Costa Rica closes zoos releasing animals

“We are getting rid of the cages and reinforcing the idea of interacting with biodiversity in botanical parks in a natural way,” Castro said at a press conference.
“We don’t want animals in captivity or enclosed in any way unless it is to rescue or save them,” he added. Costa Rica is home to 5 percent of all animal species on the planet.

Costa Rica closes zoos releasing animals and according to CCN report, the plan is to close all remaining zoos and transfer them to botanical gardens as the one of Simon Bolivar Zoo which holds a great number of animals in San Jose as well as the Santa Ana Conservation Center that will be turned to a park.
