A new initiative was launched by the DTCM (Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing) as part of its Green Tourism Award program at a ceremony held in Dubai on June 5, 2012 to mark World Environment Day.

seminars and workshops for tourism industry professionals that will make them aware of the importance of sustainable tourism, will provide the best solutions and technologies, will discuss environmental policies and will study the best environmental practices.

Khalid bin Sulayem, DTCM Director General said that the new DTCM green tourism initiative highlights Dubai’s active role in the development of sustainable tourism and the environmental  protection. DTCM green tourism  has so far achieved excellent results in the reduction of the CO2, which encourages them to expect a further reduction in 2012 by 30%.
