Flower Carpet is already a tradition in Belgium for the last forty years.

The beautiful flower carpet is well known for its colorful extraordinary design in combination with it’s amazing size.

A number of artists and artists, horticulturist, and a great number of volunteers are involved in this hard work project for days, to prepare an amazing flower carpet.

 This is actually the last stage, just the last couple of days before the official presentation, but this project is being prepared for almost a year ago in its every detail.

Since 1971, the founder year, every other year Brussels is presenting and celebrating the Flower Carpet. The events created by the landscape architect E.Stautenmans, when firstly present the fist flower carpet on the Brussels Grand-Place. The landscape architect born in Zottengem, due to his study, graduated from the Ghent Horticultural College, liked to be involved in research and work on flower carpets since early 50’s. At the begging he created small and simple flower carpets mainly by begonias. Later on his creative mind became famous for his expertise in flower colorful designed carpets and outside Belgium such as Bruges, Antwerp, Ypres and many more places as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Cologne e.t.c
The size of his designed flower carpets was vary from 77x24m , the once he designed and presented in Brussels, to the giant 164x42m at Sint-Pietersplein, Ghent, 1973.

Ever since the Flower carpet became a tradition for the Brussels and every other year is being in Grant-Place during August for a couple of days.
