Green Tourism in Greece

Green Tourism in Greece is a campaign with important participants. The Flisvos Marina, Gouvia Marina, Kos Marina, Lefkas Marina, Olympic Marine, Porto Carras and Sani Marina participate in the presentations of the first magazine for green tourism, called “Green Tourism in Greece”. This publication is part of a campaign for green tourism in Greece initiated by the World Travel Market in London in November 2012 and ran in 7 countries totally.

During the first Green Tourism Conference in Stockholm, there were presentations focusing on the ‘Blue Flags’ program. Additionally, the organizer, North Events Company, organized the campaign for green tourism and particularly the aim of the “Green Tourism in Greece”, which is to promote Greek tourism, culture and gastronomy mainly in the Nordic markets. This is done by raising the awareness of the visitors on green policies, sustainable development and the way these apply in the modern culinary tradition of Greece- an integral part of the Greek tourist product.

Great tribute was given to the standard “BIO Cuisine” by the BIO Hellas Institute, presented for the first time in major European markets.

The national manager for the “Blue Flags” program is the Greek Society for the Protection of Nature, the oldest environmental Non Governmental Organisation in Greece. It was founded in 1951 by a group of prominent citizens who, as trekkers, mountaineers and scientists, were intimately acquainted with Greek nature and shared a common love for it.

Green Tourism in Greece is organized by North Events, responsible for the promotion of Greek Tourism , Culture and Gastronomy mostly in Scandinavian countries
