Green Zone by University of Helsinki & WDC (World Design Capital) Helsinki 2012 is the new science theme in Think Corner. During the week a number sustainable ways of living and getting to know the Living Canvas greenery wall,will take place.
The Think Corner’s new science theme offers a peek into the fascinating world of plants in urban landscapes.The Green Zone by University of Helsinki science theme,brings spring feel and nature-related experiences to the heart of the city.
The Green Zone theme brings together a group of experts on nature and natural scientific rese arch on Aleksanterinkatu for a week of debates, encounters and workshops. New topics will be introduced daily, ranging from the use of plants in medical science to their role in ensuring biodiversity and human well-being. Audiences will also learn the secret to a continuous berry yield and hear tips on how to grow wild strawberries.
Green Zone will also offer a chance to look at the mysterious world of plants through a microscope. With the help of experts, those interested in our green friends get to take a more in-depth look at plants and, if they wish, record their microscopic findings on film.
Think Corner will also be introducing visitors to the world of green walls and roofs. Living Canvas plant walls and installations will spread out in the meeting point’s main area and the Kontti Gallery, showcasing new solutions for creating distinctive decorative elements and more appealing living environments. Visitors are welcome to share their ideas on what a green wall of their dreams would look like.
With new programme every day, the Green Zone theme will run at the Think Corner from 14 May to 2 June.
